“You visit the earth and water it,
You greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it…
You crown the year with your bounty;
Your wagon tracks overflow with richness.”
Psalm 65:9, 11 NRSV
The red, yellow, and brown cover the ground
and turn to grey and slick and pasty mud.
We wait the flakes of white that cut the sound
of growth beneath the leaves, a dawning bud.
We move inside to hide from wet and cold,
a chill beneath the smile upon my face.
Tables are filled with food and tales retold,
Reminding me to take my place in grace.
There is enough. There is enough for you.
There is a place. There is a place for you.
Abundant food recalls abundant love.
There is enough. There is a place. For you.
