In this episode, Andrew and I get to talk with Curt and Kathleen McFarland from The Grace of Christ church in Yakima Washington. Curt talks about his ministry journey and something that struck me was when he talked about his chaplaincy experience. He described chaplaincy as non-imposing, simply listening and caring. In the hospital, when someone is sick or dying, all pretenses fall.

Additionally, he is back at Grace of Christ after having been there years before. That is a unique experience for a pastor to have walked with some people in there prime and then now to see them in their end stages. Getting to see the passage of time in this way sounds like a gift.

I got to tour (snoop around) Grace of Christ church after this interview and it was such a wonderful experience. I took some pictures and although they can’t do it justice, they do what they do.
